Project Rubric: Grade 9 Literature Photo Album

Objective: The objective of this project is to encourage Grade 9 students to engage more deeply with the literature they are studying by visually representing key themes, characters, settings, and events through a creative photo album. This project aims to enhance students' understanding of literary concepts while fostering their creativity and digital literacy skills.

Criteria:

  1. Content Understanding (40 points):

    • Demonstrates a clear understanding of the selected literary work, including key themes, characters, settings, and events.
    • Incorporates relevant and accurate representations of literary elements within the photo album.
    • Shows evidence of critical thinking and analysis in the selection and arrangement of photos.
  2. Creativity and Originality (30 points):

    • Exhibits originality and creativity in the visual representation of literary elements.
    • Utilizes imaginative and innovative approaches in the composition of photos.
    • Shows unique perspectives and interpretations of the text through visual storytelling.
  3. Visual Presentation (20 points):

    • Photo album is well-organized and visually appealing.
    • Images are of high quality, appropriately sized, and clear.
    • Design elements such as layout, typography, and color scheme enhance the overall presentation.
  4. Digital Literacy Skills (10 points):

    • Demonstrates proficiency in using digital tools and software to create the photo album.
    • Shows evidence of effective digital editing and manipulation techniques.
    • Utilizes appropriate digital resources to enhance the visual storytelling aspect.

Rubric Scoring:

  • Excellent (90-100 points): The project demonstrates exceptional understanding, creativity, and presentation. It exceeds expectations in all criteria.
  • Proficient (70-89 points): The project shows a solid understanding of the objectives and meets most of the criteria with proficiency.
  • Basic (50-69 points): The project meets some of the objectives but lacks depth or originality in execution.
  • Below Basic (0-49 points): The project does not adequately meet the objectives and demonstrates minimal effort or understanding.

Additional Notes:

  • Late submissions may incur a penalty of up to 10% of the total score per day.
  • Plagiarism or use of unauthorized materials will result in automatic disqualification.
  • Students are encouraged to seek feedback and clarification throughout the project timeline to ensure alignment with expectations.
