Leon Jordan was a well-known and highly respected politician and civil rights leader in Kansas City and Missouri. He has often been hailed as one of the most influential African Americans in Kansas City history and, at the time of his death, the state's most powerful black politician.

As a prominent member of Kansas City society, Jordan's infamous murder and the mysteries surrounding it rattled the Kansas City community. But his memory and legacy live on to encourage the continued growth of black social and political leaders in Kansas City and beyond.
