Dear Samantha,

I'm so sorry that I cannot take our lesson today. Please can you do the following:

• Read through the worksheets on 'heroes' in the Themes Section
• Look at the three essay options in the 'Heroes - essays' page. Choose one and write a plan for how you would answer it, detailing the contents of the 5 paragraphs you would write. I've also included a sheet on Essay Techniques which has just been updated by Mr James, which gives some good insight into planning 30 markers. 
• Pay close attention to which critic's quotations you may want to use (a sheet of suggestions is included in the Heroes section). You want to include a minimum of 2 named scholars, saying things like 'I disagree/agree with ..... because ....' 
• Think also about the moments when you can discuss ancient views and contemporary culture.
