Ps 1-2 - Year 7

Starter: you have completed the reading starters for this half of term, so instead please complete the attached SPaG sheets.

Last week you planned your argument in response to the oracy task: Governor Adori would let Isabella join the expedition as a girl - how far do you agree?

Today you must use your plan to write a clear, logical and persuasive speech. You must outline your opinion, use sophisticated vocabulary, a range of accurate punctuation and rhetorical devices e.g. rhetorical questions, facts / statistics, direct address, alliteration, opinion, repetition, emotive language, hyperbole, triadic structure etc.

Carefully proofread your work.

In the final ten minutes of the lesson, swap your work with your partner and, in a different colour pen, peer assess their work. Today I would like you to peer assess using Agree, Build, Challenge. So, provide your partner with a positive comment and then decide whether you agree with your partner's argument, whether you think you can build on their argument or if there are any points you might want to 'challenge'. Whichever option you choose, please write a full sentence explaining why.
