One person from the class must go to the staff rom and ask for the A3 copies of the poem 'Jamaican British' - these are on my desk. Use the PPT on Class Notebook and the resources to help you, and follow the instructions below on lined paper:
1) Write the title 'Jamaican British'
2) Write down the connotations of the title of the poem
3) Read the first line of the poem and write down: what atmosphere / tone is established?​ What ideas does the isolated line generate?​ Are there any techniques?
4) Read the notes on the PPT slide about structure and respond to the question.
5) Write down your response to the question: What is the significance of place in this poem?​
6) Annotate the poem
7) Read the details about the poet on the following slides and then write one paragraph in response to the question: How does Raymond Antrobus explore conflict in 'Jamaican British'? You must use at least two snazzy sentences to help you. 
8) Peer-assess the paragraph writing down WWW and EBI (what went well and even better if). You might wish to consider whether your partner has used the snazzy sentences, used a clear topic sentence, carefully embedded evidence, analysed language / structure in detail, commented on the poet's intentions etc. 

 If finished, complete the first worksheet on Class Notebook (this is an extension task).
