3) Starter Activity: think about the chapter we read last lesson and make bullet point notes in response to the following questions:

A) What differences are established between Governor Adori and Ana?

B) Why do you think Hargrave establishes this contrast?

Ideas you may wish to consider:

a)What qualities do you think make a good leader?

b)What qualities do each of the leaders have or haven't got?

c)What do you think motivates each leader?

d) Do you think either leader has integrity? Why? Why not?

e) What do you think Hargrave wants us to think about each leader? Why?

4) Independently read and annotate chapter 15. You can use slides 15-22 of the PPT (on One Note) to help you annotate key moments of tension in chapter 15 (you do not need to answer the questions on slides 15-22 in your Pukka pads, but rather use the questions to help you look for interesting moments to annotate in the chapter). Also, as you read, pay close attention to the following:

a)Where the prisoners are being taken to and what Isabella does not reveal to the Banished.

b)How Hargrave builds tension (think about her descriptions of settings, characters etc.)

c)How Governor Adori behaves in this chapter.

d)What happens at the end of the chapter.
