Aim to write 3 different melodies - a low one moving in a dotted minims/minims and crotchets, a slightly higher one moving in crochets and quavers (use a combination of chord and passing notes) and a higher one which uses lots of quavers and semiquavers.

Try to keep chord notes on the main beats of each bar and use passing and auxiliary notes to 'smooth' out the leaps.

Add dynamics and articulation to give your piece character.
