Caleb rushed to the mailbox and grabbed the letter he had been waiting for. The loud rip from the paper was like music to his ears. A Cheshire cat smile emerged as he pulled the letter out of the envelope. The words hit him like a ton of bricks: "We regret to inform you that your application has been denied." The skies of his future began to darken. He was clearly confused since he had Einstein-like grades and had participated in lots of extracurricular activities. How could they not accept him? The letter was taunting him, so he threw it to the ground. After years of moving forward toward his goals, Caleb felt his life come to a screeching halt.
