1. The short story elements (the definition of these terms are posted in Resources under "Short Story Elements") for The Old Man at the Bridge, American History, The Gift of the Magi and The Pearl. This means, you need to be able to identify the setting, theme, conflict, and point of view in these stories. (I will not ask about plot or character for this exam) 

2. Know how to document the title of short stories and a book (novel/novella). In particular, The Pearl, Things Fall Apart (this only applies to two students, they know who they are), American History, The Gift of the Magi, and The Old Man at the Bridge. 

3. Reread the stories you will be tested on :The Old Man at the Bridge, American History, THe Gift of the Magi, The Pearl, Things Fall Apart(- this book is only for two students). Make sure you know what takes place inside of these stories. Note: I know that everyone read these stories, therefore, you can look at a summary to refresh your memory and as an additional resource for studying. 

4. Study symbolism found in The Pearl and Things Fall Apart (for who it applies to)
