Hopefully you didn’t have any issues with the cover work set in today’s lesson. If you did, send me an email and I can go through anything you did not understand.

In summary, God tested Abraham’s faith by seeing if he was willing to sacrifice his son, Isaac, for him. Abraham passed the test as he demonstrated that he was fully committed to God’s order, even raising the knife to his son. At the last moment, God intervened and produced a ram for the sacrifice instead. Having seen his devotion, God renewed his covenant with Abraham.

To consolidate your learning, for this week’s homework I would like you to complete the Task on page 8 of the Abraham Sacrifice PowerPoint. Key points:

• Write a diary entry of the events that occurred in Genesis 22:1-13 during God’s test of Abraham, adopting the perspective of either Abraham OR Isaac. Use the context page and the extract from Genesis.
• Begin with ‘Dear Diary’
• Add lots of detail about how Abraham/Isaac felt during each stage, thinking about why they might have had these feelings.
• Channel your creative skills and make it as gripping as possible with lots of emotion!

Try and complete the task in your 20 minutes homework time. This time should be fully focused work with no distractions.
